The West End of Glasgow Summer Inspiration – a special time to be in the city. The weeks are flying by and it has been a real treat to stop and have a quite weekend at home, just enjoying our surroundings, catching up with friends and family.
I am starting to write this Monday blog on Sunday night in my new studio at home we created in the attic and the rain is now beating down on the roof above…Summer in Scotland, sunny this morning and now very wet and feels like Autumn!! Running and walking round the West End of Glasgow is such a treat whatever the weather. We are surrounded by trees, lovely shops, bars, restaurants and parks. If you haven’t visited Glasgow it is a great place to come for a weekend away.
Next weekend we are off to the Edinburgh Festival as you can get the train or drive in 40 minutes. Firstly a busy week ahead though working on new collections for different brands for September launches. Working with mills and printers across the UK, Spain, Holland and Turkey just now.
So you need to have time to stop and just enjoy time and living in the West End really lets you do this.
Within a 10 minute run from my home you reach Kelvingrove Park which is vast and wonderful to explore with the River Kelvin running through it. A great place to walk, run or cycle to switch off from city life.
Then waking out of the Kelvingrove park at the Botanics you reach Oran Mor at the end of Byres Road. From here we head down to the studio and you walk past so many wonderful shops there as well. If you haven’t been to Oran Mor yet you must go to A Play, Pie & a Pint, it is an amazing theatre experience. Plus an after dinner drink in Ashton Lane is a West End must, it is so pretty with the blanket lighted ceiling. Our favourite is the Middle Chip, Upstairs Chip or Roof Top Chip!
Another favourite area in the West End to walk too is Dumbarton Road near Kelvingrove Art Gallery – there are so many wonderful places to eat including Ox & Finch, Crab Shack, Mother India, Mother India Tapas and The Gannet. Or Gibson Street – Stravaigin for wonderful Scottish Food and Eusebi’s for great Italian food. Spoilt for choice in a special place to live or visit – City Life with a lot of greenery and character.
Olympics 2016 Rio
Also enjoyed watching the start of the Olympics this weekend and cannot believe London was 4 years ago! I love the photos that keep popping up on my Facebook!
It was visually a beautiful opening ceremony for the Olympics this year in Rio. The elastic bands section was magical. Also the Planters of the World theme with 11,000 seeds being planted to grow a new forest in Brazil. Good luck to Team GB….. Enjoyed watching the first of the rowing & cycling with all the stunning views of Rio. Sad that the rowing was cancelled on Sunday due to weather, hope they have better luck today. Also enjoyed swimming, diving and fencing!
I took a couple of grabs while watching the opening ceremony on the BBC as it was full of pattern and colour! If you haven’t watched it yet worth watching on the BBC iPlayer!

Favourites of the week:
Best selling fabric was Always, Sand. Most sampled fabric Bud, Firecracker. Favourite wallpaper of the week Pompom Nightshade. All three work so well with our plain Tandem wallpaper in Cloud White to create a modern fresh interior. I do love interiors that use lots of white with a pop of colour from the patterns added.
Please do share your photos of your #NMinteriors rooms with us as we love to see how you use our fabrics and wallpapers. Have a great week ahead x
