Setting up design scotland collective

Finding a space to show in London during London Design week was an exiting challenge. We wanted to be near Chelsea Harbour Design Centre or Designers Guild and Osborne and Little on the Kings Road to show our new fabric collections. When looking for spaces for a popup shop we came across the Chart Gallery. This was a great space and there was room for three companies to exhibit so we approached two other Scottish companies Charlotte James and Bute.

They both agreed that they wanted to be involved and the Design Scotland Collective group was born. Neil then designed the space in a CAD plan showing how each company could best exhibit their products for the show.

We all drove down from Scotland with our stands to the space in London and started building the show. The launch party on the Monday night was great fun and we would like to say a huge thank you to the other companies involved Linn, Auchentoshan, Ritchies Of Rothsay and Stevens and Graham. The Linn lounge was a great success showcasing one of their amazing music system. Linn is a Glasgow based company who create music systems that transform the way you listed to music at home. Also everyone loved tasting and hearing about Auchentoshan whisky. Achentoshan are a distillery near Glasgow who create one of Scotland’s most unique single malt whiskies.

We had wonderful food prepared by Margret Marshall which included quails eggs and smoked salmon. The Smoked Salmon was given to us by Ritchies Of Rothesay which was totally delicious. They are based on the Isle of Bute where Bute fabrics are. Bute is a stunning island to visit and just a ferry ride away from Skelmorlie outside Glasgow or you can take the Waverley from Glasgow which is a real treat to do.

We also got the Tartan carpet from Stevens and Graham which looked great in the space and separated the different areas as well as leading you into the space. Scottish Enterprise and The Textiles Scotland team also very kindly made a contribution towards the show and helped promote it for us.

It was a superb place to have as home for the week and thank you to all our customers who came to see us and who made it such a success for us.
