We had a stunning weekend in Seil and we saw wonderful Scottish landscapes to inspire new designs. It was a friends 40th Birthday and we enjoyed staying on Seil at her family house and visiting the Isle of Eriska Hotel by boat for lunch. All in all a wonderful treat of a weekend full of laughter and good food.
A few highlights: Their neighbour had written happy birthday in flags where the boat picked us up to go to Eriska. Coming off the boat at Eriska having Pimms being poured at the jetty! Followed by a wonderful seafood lunch on the new Spa deck overlooking the stunning landscape. The boat was a great way to travel, using Coastal Connections.
The scenery was so inspiring and to have the opportunity to take photos of the layers created by the clouds and landscape could not have been better timed. Having been at the Summer Exhibition last month I am feeling inspired to start painting again. At the Royal Academy Of Arts shop I had also got a book of watercolours by Norman Ackroyd which have a stunning simplicity capturing the layers of colour and texture. The book is called ‘A Shetland Notebook’ and it captures the colours and weather beautifully.
This weekend I have chosen a few of my favourite photos and started to set up a new studio space in my attic so I can start to escape and work on capturing my thoughts for new textiles and wallcoverings. Scottish landscapes to inspire new designs has been our inspiration a lot of this year with the new cushion collection being the starting point. I do however think there is far more scope in developing the stripes and layers that excite me from this latest trip.
RA Summer exhibition
I loved visiting the RA Summer Exhibition last month as it always inspires me. Neil’s mum had never been so I took her this year which was a real treat as she is a wonderful artist herself. I have added a few photos of some of my favourites. But remember it is on until the 21st August 2016 #RASummer
Best sellers of the week
We love seeing our Best selling fabrics and wallpapers each week – this weeks best selling fabric ‘Zip’ feather grey, most sampled fabric ‘Always’ chilli pepper. Favourite wallpaper of the week ‘Shoot’ warm sand.
Our ‘Shoot’ wallpaper can be used on one wall and then our ‘Tandem plain’ in warm sand on the other walls if you don’t want pattern on all walls. Although we love it when you put pattern on all walls as you can still put up paintings.
Please do share your photos of your #NMinteriors rooms with us as we love to see how you use our fabrics and wallpapers. Have a great week ahead x
