Musee D’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris

The Sonia Delaunay exhibition at Musee D’Art moderne de la ville de Paris was a great exhibition that I visited whilst in France. There were over 400 art works – paintings, wall decorations, gouaches, prints, textiles, fashion & costume garments. I love the abstract style and colours she used and it was a real treat to see so much of her work together. Born 1885 in Ukraine she was a Jewish-French artist who, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others cofounded the Orphism Art movement – known for their use of strong colours and geometric shapes.

It was also wonderful seeing the large Henri Matisse paintings that they had on show along with the Salle Dufy room and the Eiffel Tower as you walk to the gallery.
