Glasgow

I had a superb weekend cycling around Glasgow – it felt like being on holiday! It is amazing how far you can cycle now without having to go on the road. From Glasgow’s West End at Glasgow Uni through to the Barras, Homes for the Future and Templeton on the Green then back along the Clyde to the Botanics in the West End.

I just loved the mural at Cafe Andaluz  that I hadn’t noticed before.

Homes for The Future  – I liked the use of Siberian Larch on the McKeown Alexander Architects flats as it has weathered beautifully to one colour. For me the overall space feels a little cramped having so many different buildings next too each other, but it is still great to see and think about what works.

The Barras on a Saturday was buzzing and such fun to cycle around. I saw some great Graffiti – love the colours.

The People’s Palace is a stunning place and I love the Templeton Business Centre next to it with it’s patterned facade. It’s real name is Templeton On The Green, and it was designed and built as a carpet factory for James Templeton and Son. It later became a business centre in 1984.

Glasgow University is stunning in all weathers and I also loved photographing the Boyd Orr Building, great textures and colours….

The Next Bikes were a great legacy left after the Commonwealth Games and we will be sorry to see George Square go back to normal this week!

If you have the time, a cycle round Glasgow is a must!
