Designer Fabrics Scotland
Natasha Marshall Limited is a textile design studio based in Glasgow, Scotland specialising in the design of modern and contemporary fabric collections for use in the home interior. Neil and Natasha Fullerton are the Directors behind the design team. They met whilst studying at the Glasgow School of Art and in 1997 started working together to create beautiful Designer Fabric Collections in Scotland from their own Design Studio.
Modern graphic fabric print collections
Their trademark speciality is the creation of modern graphic fabric print collections which are timeless in design and can be used to create timeless but modern and contemporary interiors in both the commercial and residential interiors markets. Throughout the last 18 years, the designers have worked from their Scottish Studio which relocated to a bespoke building in Glasgow’s trendy West End, which was designed and built by themselves in collaboration with their architectural friends, Cameronwebster, in 2008. In 2012, Neil and Natasha transformed an old furniture restoration building into a modern and contemporary home which they designed and built, and have used as a showcase to present and display their own designer fabric collections to fantastic effect. The building has featured in many magazines and photoshoots and won a Saltire Design Award.
Scottish design studio
The Scottish Design Studio of Natasha Marshall Limited has in 2015, launched two new modern designer fabric collections and one new wallpaper collection. Having worked as ghost designers for a number of years with leading brands based both in Scotland and throughout the UK and Europe, the Natasha Marshall team felt that the time was right for them to create new contemporary fabric collections and to sell and market them from their Glasgow base.
The Ikon Collection by Natasha Marshall is a designer fabrics collection comprising of the iconic designs originally created by Neil and Natasha in early 2000; – Plectrum, Drift, Beanstalk, Blossom, Always, a new version of Billow and a brand new design Zip. These modern fabrics were previously sold under licence, but have been updated and presented in a stunning new colour palette. This printed fabrics collection is perfect for a wide range of interior soft furnishings and is printed onto a 93% Cotton, 7% Linen base cloth. The Alegre Collection is a new contemporary fabrics print collection. The inspiration for this modern printed fabrics collection was taken from hot house flora, bold botanical forms combined with fresh and lively colours of glasshouse plants and is also inspired by the beautiful scenery and colours found in the Scottish countryside where the Studio is located. Designs include; PomPom, Bud, Shoot, Flip, Link and Timber. The designer fabrics have been printed onto a 60% Cotton, 40% Linen base cloth and, as with the Ikon Collection are suitable for use in a wide range of interior soft furnishings bringing colour and style to a modern interior.
The Alibi Collection is a modern plain woven fabric collection. Its bold and vibrant modern colour pallet beautifully complements the printed fabrics in the Ikon and Alegre Collections.
All of the collections above were designed and developed in Scotland and Ikon and Alegre are printed and produced in the UK before being delivered to the Scottish warehouse and showroom in Glasgow for despatch and delivery to our UK and worldwide customers. When Neil and Natasha started designing their own contemporary fabric collections in a small studio in Glasgow in 1997, all of their fabrics were screen printed to order. Whilst this was not a particularly cost effective method of production, it gave the designers invaluable experience in the printing and production of designer fabrics. As the company expanded, the modern fabric collections were rotary printed and the Scottish designers developed their experience in the selection of suitable cloths and textures for the modern interiors markets. More recently, the introduction of digital printing methods has given the studio design team further experience in the design of smaller more bespoke designer fabric collections.
Both Neil and Natasha are very passionate about their Scottish roots and connections and it is very important to them that the design studio is maintained in Glasgow, where the vibrant llifestyle of the west end and the beautiful scenery and countryside surrounding the city will continue to be an inspiration to their designs. Natasha is a Board member of the Scottish Textiles and Leather Association and Scottish Council Member for the Princes Trust. Neil is a very keen sailor and spends most weekends in the inspirational surroundings of the Scottish Isles.
