Colourful Burano Facebook Memories

I love it when Facebook put up your memories with a photos and this weeks was 4 years ago the Colourful Burano Facebook Memories. It made me look back at the photos we took for colour inspiration. It was a fascinating village to visit full of textures and colours to inspire two textile designers!

When staying in Lido near Venice we took the boat to an island called Burano where they used to weave all the Burano lace. We just loved all the coloured buildings and took lots of colour, texture, stripes, and pattern photos for inspiration.

The boat trip there was also a great sightseeing tour as we went under the Rialto Bridge and through many different areas of Venice by Boat. Then the day was finished off by a direct boat ride back to Lido. A magical place to explore and I look forward to returning again very soon.

This trip was on the way to Lake Como for the yearly textile trade show we attend there. We flew into Milan, took the taxi to Venice and then the train to Lake Como!

My next trip to Venice I would stay in Lido again and hire bikes to cycling round the island. WE walked around and found great beaches and lovely non-touristy restaurants and bars. It was only a 10 minute boat ride into Venice.

Carlo Scarpa Architect

I also cannot wait to visit the Carlo Scarpa Gardens The Querini Stampalia that inspired my degree show work. I had forgotten how close it was to Venice on this trip 4 years ago! His work has always inspired the patterns and textures that I love, as well as his use of light in his architecture.

Thank you Facebook for my Colourful Burano Facebook Memories this week x
