With Christmas Decorations at home I love a bit of tacky, a Scandinavian influence and traditional all rolled into one rather than being themed! Red and White are my favourite festive colours. For me Christmas is the perfect time to enjoy baking, max out on a bit of tacky with the decorations, while enjoying spending time with family and friends.
This weekend was the start of Christmas for me with our annual friends Christmas dinner night out and Christmas Day with Neil’s family on Sunday night. Our West End Christmas dinner started about 15 years ago in our flat and as it grew we moved to taking over different small local restaurants each year which is great fun. This year we were at a Mexican restaurant called Bibi’s – the food was superb and our goodie bags all had moustaches in so the night was truly Tash’ed, a funny photo below a friends shared on Facebook!
Our home decor is beautifully festive, I love being surrounded by my Christmas Decorations that have been collected over years. My sister I also give each other a new Christmas Tree Decoration each alternate year. Last year I gave her Skandium penguins and this year she gave me a glittery snowflake. For me I really love lots of red at Christmas. That’s why I love having our chilli pepper beanstalk and blossom cushions on the sofa from our Ikon collection.
This year we have dug up last years tree from the garden. Which I thought would work, but not really, can’t be the right type as it hasn’t looked happy since day one inside! Anyway covered in decorations it is still looking festive! Next year we will go tree shopping again to get a bigger tree! You can’t beat the smell and look of a real tree.
I had a great weekend of baking gingerbread cakes and brandy snaps. I love the smell of cinnamon and ginger to get into the festive mood. The perfect Christmas festive feel in your home interiors is the smell of baking, fire burning, twinkling lights on the Christmas tree and candles burning. I made my Brandy Snaps along with the Mary Berry, Bake Off video as I hadn’t made them since school days! They were yummy filled with cream at Neil’s Family Christmas on Sunday Night. So much nicer than shop ones and easy to make!
We have our work Christmas party on Thursday and I can’t see what wonderful funny presents Secret Santa brings this year!!
I hope you all have a wonderful last week before Christmas. Happy Christmas for next weekend x
